We have started another year of Old Boys Rugby and our 7th year as a team. The 2005 season had did have some disappointments with teams canceling or showing up with very few players. We hope that this year's schedule will be better attended by the visting teams.
Over the winter there has been some new players contacting us to play this year. Some of the senor players with the associate clubs are now planning to continue playing rugby with the Vintage. This is great news for us and for each of the clubs. The more people that stay involved in the game the better for everyone.
We have set the schedule for this year with a few additions and changes.
The South Western Ontatio Old Boys League have decided to include in the schedule
"OPEN CALL" games. These open call games will be rotated each month
to a different club to try and promote the game and to attract more old boys
players.
It will also allow the players from each team that want more playing time to
get in a few more games than their team has scheduled.
We have found it frustrating and disappointing that we are unable to get our
players to pay their $25.00 dues. We have repeatedly requested people bring
or send in their payments. We have even supplied forms to allow you to mail
in your dues.
Collecting dues should not require this amount of time and effort that we have
to expend every season.All of the other teams are charging over $100.00 for
players.
For the 2005 season we have adjusted the dues to the following:
Players…………… $50.00
Social Members…. $25.00
Our original plan for the money raised with dues and raffles was to donate funds to school and club junior programs. We have done this on a few occasions but it has been well below the level we had hope for.
To try and solve this issue we have decided to contact each person individually to get a commitment to pay your dues on or before the first game of the season. To mail it in you should address it to the following.

The players from the London Stumps joined the Vintage last year as a temporary
measure to keep their players involved in the game.
Due to our help London has been able to rebuild the team and we will be playing
them several time this year. This will also mean that we have to make our commitments
to the away games.
Our Vintage web page has been recently updated so I would encourage everyone
to have a
look and download anything of interest.

Canadian Rugby News has been publishing a Canadian Rugby Web magazine with
a +40 section for any news or events. We hope to provide them with updates on
our league and games.
If you are so inclined, you can send them an article and they will post it on
the site.

Most clubs involved with the Vintage now have web sites so I have included
them in the
newsletter for reference. Hopefully each of these sites will post our schedule
for their over
+40 players.

We will also be looking for more commitment from each of the clubs to support
the Niagara Vintage. If any of our players are on executive for the clubs let
us know.
Many players have expressed an interest in purchasing golf and new playing
jerseys and we will again attempt to place an order this spring.
Anyone interested purchasing a playing jersey in long or short sleeves should
let us know ASAP, so that we can put an order together.
I have included order forms for golf shirts and jerseys.
If you can fill it out and send it back by email so that we can confirm we have
enough for the minimum order. Money will be due after we have confirmed the
number of Jerseys to be ordered.
As we will have some new players this year, I have included a list of the
executives for the
team.
